When the world appears so unpredictable it is important for parents to ensure their child is prepared to face the difficulties of life. Since parents are the family heads they are in a position to encourage the kids and help them develop the ability to cope with pressure and come back strong in case of adversity.
Another important factor of child resilience is found in how he or she learns to handle emotions in appropriate and functional manner. Guide children to name and manage their feelings; reassure them, and allow them to discuss what is happening to them. It also assists children learn about themselves and the general society and possibly have empathy to other people in the society.
The last element is to teach problem solving skills. In the challenges, assist children in breaking down problems, in terms of identification of several potential solutions and arriving at sound conclusions. This way children feel that they have some independent direction of what happens to them as opposed to feeling no control at all.
Similarly it is required to promote the development of growth mindset to further improve the resilience level. Educate children that it is perfectly okay not to succeed and that the challenge is a teaching moment. Support the process and not the outcome to wake them up to the fact that persistence pays.
The fourth effective method is to show how to be resilient oneself in front of children. During the course of the accomplishment, show how you deal with stress, change, and other challenges that may come your way. Children tend to follow what is being practiced by those individuals they trust and have close relationships with.
With these strategies in place parents would be able raise up their children to be strong and ready and willing to face whatever life has in store for them.
